Measure for a porch awning

Taking the measurement:

The key to measuring for a porch awning is to measure yourself. Do not rely on the height quoted in your manual as this is normally the shipping height – which will include any domes/aerials on the roof.

  1. Measure height from ground to rail, at its highest point
  2. Measure length of straight awning rail – the length of straight awning rail will be the maximum porch awning width that your caravan can accommodate.

Before you take the measurement look at the side of your caravan, and visualise where you’d like the porch to sit.

  • Include the doorway of your caravan
  • Take into account any windows you may want to cover/avoid
  • Finish your measurement as appropriate

By far the most popular sizes for porch awnings are 260cm and 390cm with all the leading manufacturers offering awnings in these widths. 330 cm and 325 cm sizes are slowly becoming more popular to fill this gap, which often avoids any infringement to caravan windows.
